Water Damage

Safer, more effective and faster way of taking care of Water Damage.

Water Damage often introduces more than just moisture to the materials it has affected. Biological contaminants like sewage residue can be part of the damage left behind by flooding. In many cases, within 24 to 48 hours of the flood, mold begins to grow, and it can sometimes be toxic. Traditional cleaning methods rely heavily on chemicals to remediate the damage left behind by Water Damage, but there is a safer, more effective and faster way of taking care of Water Damage.

Dry Ice Blast Cleaning is fast becoming to the go-to method of remediating Water Damage, because it uses no toxic chemicals and no water. Polar Tiger utilizes technology that involves only the use of a common, everyday gas called CO2 – carbon dioxide. In its solid state, CO2 is dry ice.  CO2 blasting works through processes called thermal-kinetic effect, thermal shock effect and pellet kinetic energy. Polar Tiger’s technology makes these processes possible by adjusting the compressed air pressure, using different blast nozzles to affect velocity distribution, and utilizing the right sized CO2 pellets. When the pellets make impact with the targeted area, they instantly sublimate (phase change from solid to gas) and cause a tiny explosion that removes contaminants while leaving the surface area unharmed. However, it’s the thermal shock that causes the cleaning effect, not the pressure of the pellets striking the surface. For instance, the instantaneous sublimation of CO2 pellet upon impact absorbs maximum heat from the very thin top layer of surface coating or contaminant. Maximum heat is absorbed due to latent heat of sublimation. The gas expands to nearly 800 times the volume of the pellet in a few milliseconds in what is effectively a "micro-explosion" at the point of impact. When the CO2 hits the contaminants at negative 109 degrees Fahrenheit, they are changed at the molecular level and it vanishes.

The result of using Polar Tiger technology is a deeper clean, so clean that the surfaces are actually sanitized. It can even get into tight areas where water has seeped, taking out the harmful contaminants residing there, often without need of dismantling the affected areas. It also works on just about any surface, including concrete, bricks, fabrics, tiles, and metal.

Water Damage also carries with it the risk of a musty smell. In the case of Water Damage caused by fire, there is a musty and burnt odor that seems impossible to eliminate. However, Polar Tiger’s method of Dry Ice Blast Cleaning rids affected areas of those odors, quickly and in far less time than can be accomplished with traditional cleaning methods.

There is more than just the deodorizing effect that occurs when using Dry Ice Blast Cleaning - there is no reason to worry about etching, which is commonly seen on materials cleaned with aggregate blasting. And the Polar Tiger equipment is completely portable, which means it can be used in small basements, crawl spaces, closets, attics and any area large or small that has been affected by mildew, sewage, mold and organic odors caused by Water Damage.
